WOMEN IN BRAZIL: EDUCATIONAL PERSPECTIVES FOR EQUALITY
Abstract
Even though women are more educated than men are, the average income of women is still lower than that of men: employed women earn an average of 70.7% of men; and when men and women have 12 years of schooling or more, women's income is only 58% of men's income. The present article discusses the problem of inequality between men and women, and shows that the dynamics of male domination persists both inside and outside the home, which leads us to the conclusion that changing conditions depends on education, not necessarily (or not only) in its formal dimension, but is necessary to learn how to educate boys and girls for equality, at school and at home.
