Abstract

This article aims to present theoretical and analytical contributions of how photography can be a methodology for the cultural “translation process”, related to the epistemological scope of the sociology of absences, proposed by the sociologist Boaventura de Sousa Santos and, as a consequence, expand the photovoice methodology, created by Wang and Burris (1997). Socióloga, Cientista Política, Urbanista e Fotógrafa. É Pós-Doutorada em Sociologia pelo Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra (2007-2011, Portugal); Doutora em Planejamento Urbano e Regional pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (IPPUR/UFRJ, 2006); Mestre em Ciência Política pela UFF (2002) e Bacharel e Licenciada em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (1988). Professora da Universidade Federal Fluminense no Instituto de Arte e Comunicação Social (IACS) e professora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia e Direito da Universidade Federal Fluminense (PPGSD/UFF). Pesquisadora Associada do Centro de Estudos Sociais (CES, Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal) e do Instituto de Estudos do Trabalho e Sociedade (IETS, RJ).
