GENDER AND NARRATIVES: AN ANALYSIS OF THE “PRÊMIO CONSTRUINDO A IGUALDADE DE GÊNERO”

Abstract

This article starts with the issue of gender inequality in the Brazilian society, focusing mainly on the insistent sexual division of labor and in the absence of women in scientific and academic careers, two factors that drove creation of the “Programa Mulher e Ciência” in 2005 by the Secretaria de Políticas para as Mulheres, in Brasil. One of the actions of this Program was the “Prêmio Construindo a Igualdade de Gênero”, which is the object of analysis of this article, where students from different educational levels were prompted to think about issues involving these thematic. The purpose of the award was to stimulate and strengthen critical reflection and research on the existing inequalities between men and women in our country.
